About

Built in 1929 for the Ibero-American Exposition in Seville under the name Stadium de la Exposición, the ground has been home to Real Betis since 1939. The club bought it in 1961 and named it Benito Villamarín that same year. Redevelopment work in 1982, 2000 and 2017 gradually shaped the arena as it stands today, with a capacity of 60,721.

While work is under way at the Benito Villamarín, Betis run their guided tours at the Estadio La Cartuja, where the team currently plays. The route takes in the presidential lounge, the mixed zone, the trophy room, the first-team dressing room, the tunnel, the pitchside area and the bench, before finishing at the club's official store.

Did you know?

Built almost a century ago now, the Benito Villamarín stadium is one of the grounds that has changed the most over the decades in Spain. With five successive names, one refurbishment after another and, since the summer of 2025, a complete rebuild that has temporarily sent Real Betis to play at La Cartuja, the arena has never stopped reinventing itself so as to remain one of the finest in Europe. And the 1935 Spanish champions would certainly agree.
