About

Opened on 13 September 1931, the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard is named after the founder of Casino, whose family helped fund its construction. When AS Saint-Étienne turned professional in 1933, the club played all of its matches here. The "Chaudron" has been redeveloped many times since, but has never moved from its original site. Extensively refurbished for Euro 2016, it now holds 41,965 spectators.

The guided tour lasts one hour and takes in the main courtyard, the press room, the mixed zone, the first-team dressing room, the players' tunnel, the edge of the pitch and the VIP lounges and hospitality areas. Housed inside the ground, the Musée des Verts extends the experience and tells the story of ASSE.

Tours run on Wednesdays and Saturdays, except on the day after a match. The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 2 pm to 6 pm, with additional morning openings during the school holidays.

Did you know?

A seven-time French champion with Les Verts between 1967 and 1970, then 1974 and 1976, Hervé Revelli is the all-time leading scorer of AS Saint-Étienne. A France international over the same period (15 goals in 30 caps), he twice finished as top scorer in the French league, for a total of 216 goals in the top flight. Who could ever take his place in the hearts of the Saint-Étienne faithful?
