About

Hampden Park is Scotland's national stadium. The current Mount Florida site opened in 1903, when Queen's Park beat Celtic 1-0 in the inaugural match. Since 1906 it has been the home of the Scotland national team. Now holding 51,866, the ground holds the European attendance record for an international match, with 149,145 spectators for Scotland v England in 1937. In 2002 the Champions League final here saw Zinédine Zidane score against Bayer Leverkusen.

The stadium tour takes in the dressing rooms, the warm-up area, the players' tunnel, the edge of the pitch and the steps climbed for trophy presentations. It lasts between 45 minutes and an hour. The Scottish Football Museum then carries the visit further.

Monday to Friday there is a single departure, at a time that varies. On Saturdays and Sundays, tours leave at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3pm.

Before its most recent redevelopment in 1999, which brought it to 51,866 seats, Hampden Park was far bigger and could take more than one hundred thousand people for a single match. Its attendance record, set in 1937, says it all: 149,415 spectators for a Scotland v England game. Simply astonishing!
