About

Opened on 14 December 1947 as the Nuevo Chamartín, the Santiago Bernabéu is the home of Real Madrid, the most decorated club in the history of the European Cup with fifteen titles. Renamed in 1955 in honour of its president, it underwent a sweeping redevelopment between 2019 and 2024, gaining a steel façade, a retractable roof and an underground pitch storage system. It can now hold more than 85,000 spectators.

The Bernabéu Tour brings together the Real Madrid museum, where the many trophies of the Merengues are on display, a panoramic viewpoint over the ground, the first-team dressing room and the benches. The press room is added to the route on certain days.

The tour is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 7pm, and on Sundays and public holidays from 9.30am to 6.30pm. Only 25 December and 1 January are exceptions. On match and event days, some areas may be closed or the route may be altered.

Did you know?

The Santiago Bernabéu is named after the former Real Madrid president Santiago Bernabéu, the driving force behind its construction. A former player of the club, he led the Spanish institution from 1943 to 1978, a spell that brought 6 European Cups (the forerunner of the Champions League), 16 Liga titles, 6 Copa del Rey trophies and an Intercontinental Cup.
